"The world needs people to dream of something great, and then to pursue it with all of their heart."

Interesting Fact:

Essential oils are made of hundreds of different elements in a world where environmental conditions are constantly changing. Therefore, no two batches of oil can ever be exactly the same. This is why it is incredibly difficult to synthetically create them.

The Power of Aromatherapy

Essential oils provide valuable therapeutic benefits. Aromatherapy, or essential oil therapy involves mixing essential oils with either a substance like lotion, to rub on the skin, or with a spray that is inhaled in the air. Because our sense of smell is the only sense directly tied to the limbic area of the brain, when essential oils are inhaled, they go directly to the brain. Depending on what kind of essential oil is used, the nerves could send impulses that are either calming or stimulating.  Ogleby specializes in custom blending essential oils into perfume, soap, creme, scrubs and beauty oils.

How is essential oil extracted?

Essential oils are most commonly extracted by distillation. This process uses steam to rupture the oil membranes in the plants, therefore releasing the essential oil. The steam carries the essential oil into a condenser, where it re-liquefies. Because oil and water do not mix, the essential oil floats on top, leaving what is called floral water at the bottom.

An essential oil is a concentrated liquid containing aroma compounds from plants. Essential oils are also known as the "oil of" the plant from which they were extracted, such as oil of the rose. An oil is "essential" in the sense that it carries a distinctive scent, or essence, of the plant. They are very concentrated, and a little goes a long way.

Essential oils have been used for thousands of years for healing purposes. Known for their healing intelligence, they smell rich and wonderful and are known to treat minor problems, anywhere from headaches to better sleep.
